The Department of African Studies at the University of Delhi, the first of its kind in India, initially introduced a Master in Arts (MA) in African Studies in the 1950s to provide knowledge about Africa to students and researchers. With renewed academic interest, the department relaunched its MA program in African Studies in the 2022-23 academic session, featuring a revised course structure. This program aims to create experts in International Relations and African Affairs, offer a multidisciplinary social science perspective, encourage inclusive global scholarship, promote the study of African ideas in international relations, and develop expertise in evolving African issues. The program aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting interdisciplinary and globally relevant education.
